Robert V. "Bob" Holt, 84, of East Claridon Township, passed away Jan. 16, 2012, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born Oct. 6, 1927, in Cleveland, he had lived in Novelty before moving to East Claridon in 1963.
Mr. Holt was a real estate agent for several real estate offices throughout Lake and Geauga Counties. His family business was Great Lakes Welding and Boiler. He worked with his father and uncles for many years following his return from the Navy.
Robert V. Holt married Arline E. Wulf April 21, 1956, at Valley Lutheran Church in Chagrin Falls.
Mr. Holt proudly served aboard the U.S. Navy Destroyer the USS Lewis Hancock and the USS Cecil J. Doyle during World War II. He enjoyed agriculture, was an excellent mechanic, and enjoyed working on tractors and farm equipment. He also enjoyed camping with his family and they traveled around Ohio and Pennsylvania. Bob was a collector of different antiques and enjoyed exhibiting them at the Great Geauga County Fair.
Survivors are his wife, Arline (nee Wulf) Holt; daughters, Melanie A. (Dan) Yatsko and Cynthia L. Holt; son, Robert D. Holt; grandchildren, Brian and Jessica Holt; and sister, Patricia M. Mercsak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern R. and Loma I. (nee Miller) Holt; and brother-in-law, Robert Mercsak.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
